Jamie Livingston took a polaroid picture everyday from 31 March 1979 until the day of his death on October 25th 1997.
For the most part this project documents the everyday life of this NYC-based film-maker and circus performer: dinner with friends, life in and around NYC, television screenshots, etc. But in the last year of his life, the photos reveal a different story: Jamie is dying of cancer.
One of the most amazing, humanizing works of photography I’ve ever experienced, all 6,697 photographs have been archived here.
24 October 1997: Jamie is serenaded in his hospital bed.
